Nunshigum Ridge in Lard Magazine 2025

Those of you who follow the blog and in particular the Chain of Command campaign AARs, will know that we played out a short mini-campaign that I designed called Bunker Busting on Nunshigum Ridge. It is set during the battle of Imphal in 1944, one of the critical battles of the Burma campaign. I'm really pleased to say the campaign now features in Lard Magazine 2025 which is available in pdf format from the Too Fat Lardies website.

Aside from my campaign, there are over 170 pages of articles, scenarios, campaigns and more, on topics as varied as Spanish Guerrillas in Sharp Practice through to The Battle of Bosworth for Midgard. So plenty for those who enjoy the Lardies' games.

The campaign I've written has been renamed simply On Nunshigum Ridge. It is essentially the same as the one that we played out, with a few minor tweaks and updates since the publication CoCv2. I'm delighted people can now get their hands on it and give it a try.

There are three beautiful maps and it's splendid to see it in print in an official publication. This is the map for the first table.

When we played, the main hill was created by placing suitably shaped objects under the game mat, it was simple enough and effective. Here it is in our first game receiving a visit from a Hurribomber.

There are plenty of opportunities to use rules from the Far East Handbook and for the British player to try their hand at combined arms operations to destroy the Japanese bunkers. Of course, for the Japanese player, there's the chance to create a devious web of mutually supporting positions and then try hold on to them until the bitter end.

You can follow our campaign starting with this first post and then perhaps try your hand to see what you can make of it.
